Peace, Love & Joy Greetings

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have a new release of dies over at the online store. Our Autumn 2018 dies are here with 10 new designs. They are currently 25% off for a limited time. So, if you still need to make some Thanksgiving cards head over to the store and pick up some of these amazing dies. And, if you need some card ideas for the dies look back on the blog because the DT has posted some beautiful cards for inspiration.

My card this week is featuring the Love, Peace & Joy die. I was looking to create a Christmas card that would be easy to make multiples of. I accomplished that and am going to make at least 10 more of these for my own Christmas cards. I like to make a lot of different designs with my Christmas cards. Let's get started with some details on How I created this card.

Step 1: I started my card this week using the sketch #722 on Splitcoaststampers. I thought it was a great layout for the idea I had in mind to showcase these dies.
I used white corrugated paper for panels 3 & 4. What I did though was cut a single piece of cardstock and then used ribbon to divide the panels.

white card base: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
red layering panel: 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
white corrugated image panel:  3" x 5 3/8"
Step 2: I cut the Peace, Love & Joy phrases in red cardstock and also the corresponding images for each phrase.

Now that my elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the corrugated panel to the red layering panel with double sided tape. I used 3/8" red grosgrain ribbon to divide the panels.
Attached the word phrases with Ranger multi matte medium. I like this adhesive because it dries clear and is a strong hold. The images are secured with dimensional adhesive.
The sketch calls for the sentiment to be added to the right corner. So I looked through my Christmas stamps and found this one. It filled up the bottom of the card for a nice balance. I used my MISTI for help in placement.
Step 3:  To finish up my card, I attached the image panel to the white cardstock base and then added a few white sequins.  I thought they finished off the card nicely.
Well, that's it for me for this post. I hope I have given you an idea for a Christmas card using these super cute dies.
See you next Saturday!

Peace Wreath

Hi!

This is Anja again. I have a very simple card for you today. I'm still busy at work, coming home late and lacking time for crafting. Happily things slow down in October, so I'll have more free time.

Sometimes also a simple design can be useful, especially if we have to make a lot of cards and we don't have enough time. So this is quite a simple card to make.

For this project  used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Grapevine Wreath w/ Bird, Love Peace & Joy),
- Distress Oxides (Antique Linen, Squeezed Lemonade, Faded Jeans, Black Soot),
- white card base (11x11 cm),
- white card stock for die cuts,
- water color paper for background (10x10 cm),
- water spritzer,
- heat gun.

First I made the background. I used Distress Oxides this time and blended the three colors together. I went from light to darker color around the edge of the paper.

The I spritzed some water on top and dried it with the heat gun.
I also used Distress Oxides around the edges of the card base.

Then I die cut the wreath and the sentiment. I again used Distress Oxides around the edges.

When I had everything colored, I glued the elements on top of the card base.

And my card was finished.

Before I go I want to invite you also on The Scrapping Cottage website to check all the new goodies in the store. Can't wait to try it out.

Have a nice Sunday and see you again next week.

Anja Z.

Group Post w/Christmas Designs

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. We are sampling DT cards from Part 2 of the 2018 Christmas release. There are 29 new designs in this release.

And, speaking of new releases Christmas Part 3 has just been released along with some new Halloween dies. You will find these in the online store at a 25% off sale. There is also an exclusive die that can only be purchased through the online store. Check out the sweet Dakota the Husky die.

The DT will be showing samples soon with these new dies. Today, we have a group post showing samples from the recently released Christmas Part 2 dies. All the card samples today are ones that could easily be mass produced for Christmas card giving.

Card 1: This first sample is from Jeanne Knobbe. She used the Grapevine Wreath w/ Bird and the Love, Peace & Joy dies to create this soft and serene card. The wreath was colored with Copic markers except for the bird which was left in white. The bird and peace word are covered in two coats of wink of stella for a bit of shine. Notice that she continued the sparkle by layering the image panel with silver metallic cardstock.
Card 2:  Our next sample is from Anja Zurga. She used the Christmas Village 1 & Christmas Village 2 dies to create her beautiful night time scene. The background is sponged with distress oxide inks and then she splashed with a bit of water. She also sponged a little yellow ink to give the effect of a soft glow coming from the buildings.
Card 3: Our next sample is from Janja Albreht. She used the Winter Deer Oval + The Merry Christmas w/Deer Family dies to create her woodland scene. She used patterned paper with a subtle design that gives a beautiful whimsical look to this card. It reminds you of a misty moor. Her oval cut in the medium shade of brown draws your eye right to the deer image.
Card 4:  Our last sample for today is from Anja Zurga. She used the Peeker Snowmen die to create a beautiful Christmas tag. By using black cardstock as a background it created a dramatic look for her sweet snowmen. The sentiment in white ink gives a chalkboard look to her tag. Wouldn't a tag like this look great on that special Christmas present. It's a gift in itself.
That's our samples for today. Hope the team has given you some new ideas for using these fabulous Christmas dies.

Gnomes Card

Hi!

This is Anja. I just love all the new gnomes dies. It is so adorable. I had to try another one for today's card.

For this project I used:
- Cottage Cutz dies (Nordic Gnomes, Love, Peace & Joy),
- Distress Inks (Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany, Black Soot, Old Paper, Tattered Rose, Mustard Seed, Walnut Stain),
- white card base (1015 cm),
- water color paper for die cuts and background (9,6x20,6 cm),
- snowflake stencil,
- white glitter paste,
- spatula,
- heat gun,
- black pen,
- water spritzer,
- paper glue.

First I colored the gnomes. I used Distress Inks.

Then I colored the sentiment.

Next I made the background. I used smooching technique. I dried the paper with heat gun.

When it was dry, I used then stencil and spatula to apply the paste. I let it dry.

Then I just glued the background to the base and adhered the sentiment and the gnomes. And my card was done.

This is all from me for today. I'm also inviting you to check the online store for all the new goodies.

Have a nice Sunday.

Anja Z.

Wedding Shaker card

Hi, Vladka here! Today I have Wedding Shaker card for you. Are you interested in how you can create it? Let's start.

Basics:

Card base: 4 1/4 x 6 inches (cut 4 1/4 x 12 inches, fold in half)
Additional piece of white cardstock: 3 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches
Piece of white fun foam (3 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches)
Piece of acetate sheet (3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches)

Other Supplies:

CottageCutz Dies: Listed Below
Cardstock: White and Red Cardstock
Distress Ink: Barn Door, Aged Mahogany
Other: Scissors, Paper trimmer, Sizzix machine, Scor-buddy, Water, Sheet of Acetate, Another small piece of white foam

Let’s prepare everything first:

1. With the CottageCutz Stitched Heart die, cut 2 hearts out with some red cardstock. Use the two smaller stitched heart shapes. (First and the second one from the center)

2. With the "Just Married" expression die and white cardstock cut both words

3. Cut a piece of red paper to approximately 3 3/4 x 1 inch

4. Take additional piece of white cardstock and with the bigger heart die (the fourth from the center) cut out the heart window. Do the same with piece of white fun foam.

5. Add some Barn Door Distress Ink on acrylic block and spritzed some water on it. Then take a piece of plastic acetate and gentle pressed it against the block to pick up some of the ink. Now, press the plastic to paper with heart window to transfer the ink . This will give you a splotchy look. This technique is called "smooshing". Let dry.

6. Heat embossed the sentiment on the piece of red cardstock (you can also distress the edges with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink) and glue the smallest heart on it.

Now that you have all the prep done, let’s make the card!

On the back side of the paper with the “smooshing” and heart window, glue a piece of acetate sheet. Next, apply the fun foam to the back for the shaker base with a strong adhesive. Align the heart windows. Add some beads, small pearls or something similar (small hearts cut out of the same red cardstock will be nice too) into the opening of the fun foam.  Apply more adhesive and add the card base. This will finish off the shaker. On the front of the card, glue the biggest red heart in the middle of the window on the acetate. Add the red paper to the bottom of the card with your embossed message and apply adhesive to the “Just Married” and apply over the red heart on the front. (See photo for placement)

Now the card is done!

There are several steps but I assure you, they are not hard at all. Give it a try! Have fun creating!

Love you More!

Hello everyone, Cheryl here with another post using the Beautiful CottageCutz Dies from the Birthday Release.

I had so much fun creating my card for today. I did the panels for layering, and then added the frames for additional layering on my card. I LOVE layers, and anytime I can add tons, I do :) hehehe
Products used to create my card are listed below :)
Lacey Rose die, and airbrushed it using Copic markers. For the centers I used a glitter, and some old pearls. I did cut these out in white card stock, and cut 4 of them, so I could layer for a 3-D look

Butterfly Lisbeth was cut in a pink card stock, and a blue pattern paper, layered and I did add some pearls to it as well.

Basics Rectangle stitched frames-  I use the basics to cut the white, and red pieces, I also used the Rectangle for the blue polka dot layer too.

Embellishments- Red polka dot ribbon, old button, twine, pearls, Stamped sentiment, and sewing to complete my card for today.
