A Taste of Halloween

With the pre-order release of the new CottageCutz Halloween dies it got me ready to make Halloween cards again :) So I decided to give you a taste of Halloween today with the MLS Spooky Treats die.

Here is my first Halloween card for this year

I used this Stardust Gelly Roll pen to detail the Raven and the other diecuts. I love how this looks on black. I've shown below how you can write with it and smear it if you want the sparkle to spread. I also used some pinking shears to make my little zig zag trim.

With school starting it seems as though Halloween is just around the corner so get your Halloween dies ordered for all your spooky projects.

It's a Party!!!

I love the carnival. So many wonderful memories growing up and now we are making new memories with our children. Hi everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a sweet birthday card using the Boardwalk Carnival Silhouette die. For this card I decided to create a shadow by cutting the first die in black, then the second with a polka dot patterned paper. Offsetting them slightly, to create the shadow effect. Isn't that cute??? These little dies are truly a joy to work with and so easy to use.

So lets take a look at my little birthday card inspired by the carnival. Hope you like it

Fishing You Were Here

Good morning friends!

Today I have made a card featuring the Cottage Cutz Ring Toss and Fish Bowl die.  This die is from the Carnival Release.  Everything was cut from white cardstock and colored with Copics.  The fish with sentiment was cut from the Boys Will Be Boys cartridge.  The sentiment is from K. Andrew Designs Art Stamps, Splash-tastic Summer.

I also wanted to mention the Halloween Release pre-order is in the store.  I know a lot of you have been waiting anxiously for this release, and let me just say, "It is well WORTH the wait!!!"  I am so excited!  I want them all!!  Have a GREAT day and thanks for looking!

Happy Birthday Clown

Good morning!!  Lorie here today, and I have a fun card to share with you.  With all the fairs, festivals, and fun things going on as Summer winds down, it couldn't be a more perfect time for this carnival release.  For my card today, I used the Clown Game die from the carnival release, as well as the Ornate Circle Frame from the My Little Shoebox release.

All of the pieces for this creation were cut with colored card stock, and shaded by sponging using the same tone ink as card stock.  I did add some highlight to some of the pieces by sponging with white craft ink, and I added more stark highlights with a white gel pen.

When creating this card, I followed Angelica's new challenge for The Scrapping Cottage Blog.  You can find all the details in her post, here.  I sure hope you can play along, Angelica comes up with some of the best sketches I've ever worked with, and I DO so love sketches!!  You have a full month to come up with a card, layout, or project using the sketch below, and there will be a random winner of a $25 gift certificate to The Scrapping Cottage drawn from all the entries.

Flower Stall

Doesn't it make you smile to walk by a flower stall full of beautiful flowers? Of course it does! So I thought it would make anyone smile who was given a card with a fun flower booth on it! I love the Ticket Booth die, but I thought I would show you that this cutie can be re-purposed. I used the flower bunch from Laundry Line, added leaves from the Ornate Circle Frame, and a couple of clouds from Summertime Fun. I love getting creative "making a scene," by combining different dies. I hope you will give it a try!

Movie Night

Hi Everyone.  Well tonight was movie night for our household so I thought I would create this card to celebrate.  Now I realize that some might not consider family movie night a celebration, but honestly I adore hanging out with my family so much...I DO!

I love the Popcorn / Cotton Candy Die. It's adorable and really can be used for so many different types of projects.  On my popcorn bucket I inked the edges of the kernals with ink so they would stand out from each other.  I also added some dimensional foam tape to some of the pieces of popcorn to add layers. 

You can really see the 3-D effects from a side view.  I also used the Ticket Booth die for the tickets/sentiment...super cute way to add a message.

So we enjoyed the movie...although we ended up having ice cream instead of popcorn, LOL...I hope you plan a special event for an ordinary day for your family and share some fun time together.

Birthday Wishes

Hello everyone and Happy Friday to all! Today I wanted to share a sweet Birthday card using the Carnival Cottage Cutz die's, this card is perfect for a little girl :)

On my card I used 4 Cottage Cutz Die cuts:

Snack Cart 4 x 4 (used for sweet cart)

Boardwalk Carnival Silhouette 4 x 6(used for double borders)

Popcorn & Cotton Candy 4 x 4 (for oval on cotton candy)used as a tag

Ornate Circle Frame 4 x 4 (Used for frame)

For my Snack Cart 4 x 4 cottage cutz

For my cart I used a glitz black card stock and for the wheels too. I also used the coordinating polka dot dp for the shade on the cart. The tiny white flowers are brads. Ive added the icecream cone to the bottom of the card :) 

The little "For You" tag is from the Popcorn 4 x 4 cottage cutz(its the oval on the popcorn)

Also for my card I used the Boardwalk Carnival Silhouette for borders across my card. I just layered 1 white and 1 black, then added my sewing.

Carousel Silhouette - Enjoy this way and that way

Hello everyone from Sunny Singapore once again ! 

Hasn't it been fun seeing all our Cottage Cutz July release dies 

in action here so far ? 

When I first saw this Carousel Silhouette die , I just knew 

I would want to make birthday cards with it . 

For this card , I layered a cream colored patterned paper over black textured self adhesive cardstock.

To pretty it up I added a pink ribbon die cut from the MLSB Cameo & Oval Die 

with a touch of lavender pearl bling. 

Some Diamond stickles on the carousel finishes this card off quickly.

I used the tickets cut from the Ticket booth die to "hold" my sentiment using MLSB mini alphas. 

I also tried out die cutting the carousel in black  self adhesive cardstock

and gave the horses a different treament from the first card - 

I used Tim Holtz Distress stains  for the blue and green horses

 and topped them off with Diamond Stickles,

 and faced them the opposite way from the first card.

I just love how versatile this Carousel Silhouette die is - 

and I'm only just getting started using them on different types of projects.

Galloping Birthday Card

Today I have a Birthday Card made from the Cottage Cutz Carousel Horse die. I wanted the horse to have a bit of motion so I used a Action Wobble under the horse.

As you can see I added the wobble to the back of the horse first. The action wobble spring has a clear plastic oval as the base on each side of the spring, each side is self sticking.. The pen lines are  showing you how I needed to cut the oval plastic on the horse side to fit. On the other side of the spring I cut the clear base conpletely off. There was no way that I could hide the oval clear base when it was attched to the card. I than used Glossy Accents on the spring to attach it to the card. The only thing that I needed to do when attaching without the clear base on the spring. . was to hold the horse level until it dryed. I know you are asking what are those . . .  blue dots. . . .well. . when using a wobble you want to get the most wobble for your wiggle. Ha! Ha!. . . The best way to do that is add some weight to the item that will be wiggling. I double the card stock on the horse/tail and added three stacks of three high card stock dots/weights. I used a normal hole punch for the dot weights. The double horse and the 9 dots added the additional weight needed.

The addition thing you need to do is cut the pole so there is no cardstock under the spring. this will prevent the horse from sitting level. Just cut a 3/4" area out of the pole and bring the poles back together under the horse after the horse has dryed.

Additional Cottage Cutz dies that I used on the card. Most of the card was highlighted in inks and Copic markers.

Hi everyone! Today I'm featuring the Roller Coaster 4x6 die and the Boardwalk Carnival Silhouette 4x6 die. My daughter and her husband took their very first vacation together (other than their honeymoon) in June and went to So. California. My daughter was so excited to go to Disneyland because her husband had never been before. They went on California Screamin' (which she wouldn't do when we went as a family a few years ago) and these dies are perfect to remember the event.

I love how you can combine these two dies or use them separately, make them detailed or simple. I chose to keep them simple so they wouldn't be too busy on my layout.

Be sure to keep these Carnival dies in my mind when you do those Disney layouts!
